STATE OF INDIANA
FOR: DECLARING A DISASTER EMERGENCY IN HOWARD COUNTY DUE TO SEVERE STORMS, STRAIGHT LINE WINDS, AND TORNADOES.
TO ALL WHOM THESE PRESENTS MAY COME, GREETINGS.
WHEREAS, IC 10-14-3-12
provides that the governor shall declare a disaster emergency by executive order if he determines that a disaster involving widespread or severe damage, injury or loss of life or property has occurred or that the occurrence or threat of a disaster is imminent;
WHEREAS, beginning and concluding on November 17, 2013, a severe weather system moved through Howard County, and consisted of straight line winds and two tornadoes which touched down in Indiana;
WHEREAS, the weather system caused widespread damages to homes, businesses and public property;
WHEREAS, residences and businesses experienced excessive loss;
NOW, THEREOFRE [sic], I, MICHAEL R. PENCE, by virtue of the authority vested in me as Governor of the State of Indiana, do hereby:
that a state of disaster emergency exists in Howard County. This declaration of disaster emergency shall be effective immediately and continue for thirty (30) days pursuant to IC 10-14-3-12
ORDER the Executive Director of the Indiana Department of Homeland Security to coordinate all necessary assistance with appropriate state and local agencies.
