Under IC 4-22-2-24, notice is hereby given that on January 17, 2013, at 10:00 a.m. EST, at the Indiana Government Center South, 302 West Washington Street, Conference Center Room A, Indianapolis, Indiana, the Fire Prevention and Building Safety Commission will hold a public hearing on a proposed rule to amend 675 IAC 28-1-12 to adopt NFPA 25, Standard for the Inspection, Testing, and Maintenance of Water-Based Fire Protection Systems, 2011 Edition, with amendments, and to repeal the 2002 Edition of NFPA 25.

The Fire Prevention and Building Safety Commission has the authority to adopt this rule under IC 22-13-2. The new requirements imposed by the adoption of the rule requires additional testing on specific types of water-based sprinkler systems, reduces periodic inspecting of specific components from monthly to quarterly, and provides information on water mist systems. The reason the rule is being adopted is to provide for the use of new technologies, and the rule may allow for cost savings.
