FOR: PARDON FOR JOHNNIE CLAYTON
TO ALL TO WHOM THESE PRESENTS MAY COME, GREETINGS;
WHEREAS, JOHNNIE CLAYTON, who petitioned for a pardon, was convicted in Howard County of 2nd Degree Burglary in 1969; and
WHEREAS, the petitioner, is now an 86 year-old man who has been a productive member of society, has worked for automotive plants and the Sanitation Department of the City of Marion and lived a law-abiding life; and
WHEREAS, the petitioner has been actively involved in prison ministry and community affairs, including as Honorary Chaplain for the Grant County Sherriff's [sic] Office and as a member of the Grant County Community Corrections Board; and
WHEREAS, letters have been received urging the Governor grant this petition, including from the Grant County Prosecutor, Grant County Sherriff [sic] and the Director of Religious and Volunteer Services with the Indiana Department of Corrections; and
WHEREAS, the Parole Board, after careful investigation and examination of all the facts in this case, has unanimously recommended to the Governor that this pardon be granted.
NOW THEREFORE, I, Mitchell E. Daniels, Jr., Governor of the State of Indiana, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and the laws of said State do hereby issue a Pardon to JOHNNIE CLAYTON.
IN TESTIMONY WHEREOF, I, Mitchell E. Daniels, Jr., have hereunto set my hand and caused to be affixed the Great Seal of the State of Indiana on this 8th day of November, 2012.
