Notice of Public Hearing

Under IC 4-22-2-24, notice is hereby given that on April 17, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. EDT, at the Indiana Government Center South, 302 West Washington Street, Conference Center Room 14, Indianapolis, Indiana, the Indiana Emergency Medical Services Commission will hold a public hearing on the proposed adoption of LSA Document #10-628 that amends 836 IAC to add provisions concerning trauma protocols for field triage and transportation decision making.
The purpose of the rule is to comply with the provisions of IC 16-31-2-7(4), which requires the Indiana Emergency Medical Services Commission to adopt rules concerning triage and transportation protocols for the transportation of trauma patients consistent with the field triage decision scheme of the American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma. The rule is necessary to assure effective trauma patient outcomes and the continued development of a quality statewide trauma care system, by ensuring emergency medical services protocols that are built around national standards and that allow EMS professionals appropriate flexibility. The Indiana Emergency Medical Services Commission has authority to adopt this rule under IC 16-31-2-7.
