In accordance with the public notice requirements of 42 CFR 447.205 and Section 1902(a)(13)(A) of the Social Security Act, the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration, Office of Medicaid Policy and Planning publishes this notice of proposed changes to the reimbursement methodology for nursing facilities.

The Office of Medicaid Policy and Planning (OMPP) proposes to modify the rate setting formula for nursing facilities (codified at 405 IAC 1-14.6) to encourage improved quality of care to residents. Specifically, an adjustment will be made to increase the Medicaid rate for the period April 1, 2012, through June 30, 2012, to restore the reductions in rates paid to nursing facilities due to the expiration of enhanced quality reimbursement methodologies during the period July 1, 2011, through September 30, 2011.

These changes will result in increased Medicaid reimbursement to nursing facilities of approximately $45 million (state and federal) for SFY 2012.
