FOR: DECLARING A DISASTER EMERGENCY IN DELAWARE, DUBOIS AND JAY COUNTIES DUE TO SEVERE STORMS WITH TORRENTIAL RAINFALL, HIGH WINDS, TORNADOS, SNOWMELT AND FLASH FLOODING
TO ALL TO WHOM THESE PRESENTS MAY COME, GREETINGS:
WHEREAS, IC 10-14-3-12 provides that the governor shall declare a disaster emergency by executive order if he determines that a disaster involving widespread or severe damage, injury or loss of life or property has occurred or that the occurrence or threat of a disaster is imminent; and
WHEREAS, beginning on February 27, 2011 and continuing through March 8, 2011, severe storms with torrential rainfall, high winds, tornados, snowmelt and flash flooding caused widespread damage to homes, businesses and public property in Delaware, Dubois, and Jay counties; and
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Mitchell E. Daniels, Jr., by virtue of the authority vested in me as Governor of the State of Indiana, do hereby:
DECLARE that a state of disaster emergency occurred in Delaware, Dubois and Jay counties beginning on February 27, 2011; and
ORDER that this Executive Order declaring the existence of a state of disaster emergency previously activated the disaster response and recovery aspects of the state, local, and inter-jurisdictional disaster emergency plans applicable to the affected counties, or other political subdivisions; and
ORDER the Indiana Department of Homeland Security, having already begun implementation of the State Emergency Plan, to provide needed emergency services and to provide disaster recovery assistance to the damaged areas impacted by this disaster emergency.
This declaration of disaster emergency was in effect beginning February 27, 2011 until March 8, 2011.
