Under IC 4-22-2-24, notice is hereby given that on April 14, 2011, at 10:30 a.m., at the Indiana Government Center South, 402 West Washington Street, Conference Center Room 4, Indianapolis, Indiana, the Office of the Secretary of Family and Social Services will hold a public hearing on a proposed rule amending 405 IAC 5-30-9 to reduce the rates by 10% for transportation service reimbursement to family members, add 405 IAC 5-30-1.5 to set forth a fee schedule for Medicaid transportation rates for emergency transportation services (ambulance services) and for nonemergency transportation services (nonambulance services), add that the fee schedule rates for emergency transportation services (ambulance services) will be reduced by five percent, add that the fee schedule rates for nonemergency transportation services (nonambulance services) will be reduced by 10%, and add that all these rate reductions will be in effect for the period beginning upon the later of the effective date of this rule, or June 27, 2011, and continuing through June 30, 2013.

To comply with the provisions of IC 4-22-2-24(d)(3), the agency further states that the changes are necessary in order to avoid a budgetary shortfall and to remain within the available Medicaid appropriation. The cost of compliance with this proposed rule, including any administrative, legal, consulting, or accounting cost, is not expected to be any different than what providers currently incur in the course of providing services.

All parties interested in the rule are invited to attend the hearing and offer public comments.
