Title: Interpretation of
675 IAC 19-4-4 - 2010 Indiana Energy Conservation Code, Chapter 4
Purpose: To clarify the application of Section 4.1.1.2 to additions to existing buildings and the application of Section 4.1.1.3 to alterations of existing buildings.
Interpretation: The Building Law Compliance [Officer] interprets the following sections as follows:
1. For purposes of compliance with Section 4.1.1.2, only the construction involved in an addition to an existing building is required to comply with the 2010 Indiana Energy Conservation Code. The construction of an addition does not create a requirement for the existing building to comply with the 2010 Indiana Energy Conservation Code.
2. For purposes of compliance with Section 4.1.1.3, only the construction involved in an alteration to an existing building is required to comply with the 2010 Indiana Energy Conservation Code. The construction of an alteration does not create a requirement for the existing building to comply with the 2010 Indiana Energy Conservation Code.
