Notice of Public Hearing
Under
IC 4-22-2-24, notice is hereby given that on August 5, 2010, at 10:00 a.m., at the Indiana State Department of Health, 2 North Meridian Street, Rice Conference Room, Indianapolis, Indiana, the Indiana State Department of Health will hold a public hearing on proposed amendments to
410 IAC 1-4 to update general precautions to incorporate best practices published in the Guideline for Hand Hygiene in Health-Care Settings: Recommendations of the Healthcare Infection Control Practices Advisory Committee and the HICPAC/SHEA/APIC/IDSA Hand Hygiene Task Force and the World Health Organization (WHO) Guidelines on Hand Hygiene in Health Care.
The Indiana State Department of Health has the authority to adopt this rule under
IC 16-41-12-12 and
IC 16-41-12-17. The proposed rule amendments are justified because hand hygiene is simple and the best way to prevent illness and infection. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has consistently promoted hand hygiene as the single most important intervention to prevent transmission of disease.
Copies of these rules are now on file at the Office of Legal Affairs, Indiana State Department of Health, 2 North Meridian Street and Legislative Services Agency, Indiana Government Center North, 100 North Senate Avenue, Room N201, Indianapolis, Indiana and are open for public inspection.
