TITLE 804 BOARD OF REGISTRATION FOR ARCHITECTS AND LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTS

Notice of Public Hearing
LSA Document #09-908

Notice of Public Hearing

Under IC 4-22-2-24, notice is hereby given that on September 8, 2010, at 10:00 a.m., at the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency, Indiana Government Center South, 402 West Washington Street, Room W064, Indianapolis, Indiana, the Board of Registration for Architects and Landscape Architects will hold a public hearing concerning the issuance of a certificate of registration, admission to examinations, scope of the rule, the definition of intern, and completion of training and experience.
The Board of Registration for Architects and Landscape Architects has the authority to promulgate rules in accordance with IC 25-4-1-3 that the Board considers necessary in the performance of its duty and to establish standards for the competent practice of architecture and landscape architecture. The proposed rule amends 804 IAC 1.1-2-5, 804 IAC 1.1-6-3, 804 IAC 1.1-7-1, 804 IAC 1.1-7-2, and 804 IAC 1.1-7-7 concerning the issuance of a certificate of registration, admission to examinations, scope of the rule, the definition of intern, and completion of training and experience. The proposed rule revises the requirements for admission to the Architect Registration Examination (ARE) and thus eligibility for licensure. These modifications will allow applicants to begin taking the national licensure exams prior to completing the Intern Development Program (IDP). The IDP, as defined in IC 25-4-1-7.5, is to provide practical, supervised experience in the practice of architecture and is required for licensure in Indiana. These changes will bring the rule in conformance with IC 25-4-1 as well as implement the initiative of the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB), the national exam provider. This proposed rule will not impose costs on the regulated entities.
Copies of these rules are now on file at the Indiana Government Center South, 402 West Washington Street, Room W072 and Legislative Services Agency, Indiana Government Center North, 100 North Senate Avenue, Room N201, Indianapolis, Indiana and are open for public inspection.
