Notice of Public Hearing
Under
IC 4-22-2-24, notice is hereby given that on October 1, 2009, at 9:35 a.m., at the Indiana State Board of Animal Health, 805 Beachway Drive, Suite 50, Indianapolis, Indiana, the Indiana State Board of Animal Health will hold a public hearing on a proposed rule that will amend
345 IAC 1-3-3,
345 IAC 1-3-4, and
345 IAC 1-3-29 to clarify the requirements for a permit, documentation, and identification to move animals from the family cervidae into the state and amend
345 IAC 2.5-5 to require tuberculosis testing of cervids that are to be moved within the state.
The Indiana State Board of Animal Health is considering these changes because of an outbreak of tuberculosis in captive cervid herds in the state. Current rules require tuberculosis testing of cervids to move them into the state but do not require tuberculosis testing to move cervids within the state. The rule adds tuberculosis testing requirements to move cervids within the state to increase surveillance for the disease. Additional surveillance will increase the opportunities to find the disease and decrease the chance that the disease will be spread within the state.
Copies of these rules are now on file at the Indiana State Board of Animal Health, 805 Beachway Drive, Suite 50 and Legislative Services Agency, One North Capitol, Suite 325, Indianapolis, Indiana and are open for public inspection.
