Notice of Public Hearing

Under IC 4-22-2-24, notice is hereby given that on March 17, 2009, at 11:00 a.m., at the Department of Insurance, 311 West Washington Street, Suite 300, Indianapolis, Indiana, the Department of Insurance will hold a public hearing on proposed rules to provide standards for the disclosure of certain minimum information about annuity contracts to protect consumers and to foster consumer education.
There are no regulatory costs associated with this proposed rule. Insurers must provide a disclosure document and a Buyer's Guide to applicants when an application is made in a face-to-face meeting or through the mail. For applications received via the Internet, insurers must take reasonable steps to make the Buyer's Guide available for viewing and printing on the insurer's website. Insurers are required to provide annual reports containing certain minimum information to contract owners.

Copies of these rules are now on file at the Department of Insurance, 311 West Washington Street, Suite 300 and Legislative Services Agency, One North Capitol, Suite 325, Indianapolis, Indiana and are open for public inspection.
