TO ALL TO WHOM THESE PRESENTS MAY COME, GREETINGS;
WHEREAS, JAMES STRONG, who has petitioned for a pardon, was convicted in 2000 in Cass County of Theft, for which he served his sentence without incident or violation of parole; and
WHEREAS, the petitioner, who successfully served his sentence, is now a 28-year-old man who has been a productive member of society, earned his Criminal Justice and Psychology degrees while on the Dean's List and has since the instant offense lived a law-abiding life; and
WHEREAS, the petitioner has served our nation in the Air Force and after being medically discharged worked his way through college; and
WHEREAS, the petitioner, who made a poor and immature decision when he was nineteen, has letters of support urging the Governor to grant this Pardon; and
WHEREAS, the Parole Board, after careful investigation and examination of all the facts in this case, has unanimously recommended to the Governor that this pardon be granted.
NOW THEREFORE, I, Mitchell E. Daniels, Jr., Governor of the State of Indiana, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and the laws of said State do hereby issue a Pardon to JAMES STRONG.
IN TESTIMONY WHEREOF, I, Mitchell E. Daniels, Jr., have hereunto set my hand and caused to be affixed the Great Seal of the State of Indiana on this 31st day of December, 2008.
