Economic Impact Statement
LSA Document #08-203

IC 4-22-2.1-5 Statement Concerning Rules Affecting Small Businesses
IC 4-22-2.1-5 requires an agency to submit to the Indiana Economic Development Corporation (IEDC) a statement of economic impact of any proposed rule with an economic impact on small businesses. The IEDC is required to review the rule and submit written comments to the agency not later than seven days before the public hearing. A copy of the rule and the Notice of Intent to Adopt the Rule is attached.
The Division of Family Resources (DFR) has reviewed the proposed rule to determine the economic impact of the rule on small businesses, and, based on the information available at the time of rule promulgation, the proposed rule does not impose requirements or costs on small businesses.
The purpose of the proposed rule is to allow DFR (1) to conduct reinvestigation interviews for Temporary Assistance for Needy Families Program (TANF) recipients via mail, as well as in person and by phone; (2) to add an exemption to the TANF Indiana Manpower and Comprehensive Training (IMPACT) program, for those adults caring for disabled household members; and (3) to allow DFR to accept electronic signatures on TANF applications. As a result, there is no effect on small businesses.
There is no alternative method to achieving the purpose of the rule.
