TITLE 407 OFFICE OF THE CHILDREN'S HEALTH INSURANCE PROGRAM

Notice of Public Hearing
LSA Document #08-533

Notice of Public Hearing

Under IC 4-22-2-24, notice is hereby given that on October 30, 2008, at 9:00 a.m., at the Indiana Government Center South, 402 West Washington Street, Conference Center Room 6, Indianapolis, Indiana, the Office of the Children's Health Insurance Program will hold a public hearing on the Office of the Children's Health Insurance Program's proposed amendments to 407 IAC to add a new group of eligible children whose countable family income exceeds 200% of the federal poverty level using existing income methodologies but does not exceed 250% of the federal income poverty level without application of income disregards and to add two additional eligibility premium cells for the new group of children.
To comply with the provisions of IC 4-22-2-24(d), the agency further states the following: This rule amendment is needed to increase the number of Hoosier children who are covered by health insurance. This is a public need. It is estimated that there are 17,000 uninsured children in the state living in families with incomes between 200% and 250% of FPL. It is expected that the rule change will allow a population of children (who currently are not provided health care until it is an emergency) to receive care when illness or injury is in its earliest stages. There are no costs or requirements imposed on regulated entities by the rule.
Copies of these rules are now on file at the Indiana Government Center South, 402 West Washington Street, Room W451 and Legislative Services Agency, One North Capitol, Suite 325, Indianapolis, Indiana and are open for public inspection.
