Under IC 4-22-2-24, notice is hereby given that on August 15, 2008, at 10:15 a.m., at the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency, Indiana Government Center South, 402 West Washington Street, Room W064, Indianapolis, Indiana, the Indiana Board of Accountancy will hold a public hearing on proposed amendments to define "group program", "Internet-based study", and "self-study", to revise the length of program and instruction of hour to allow one-half continuing education credit for programs, to increase the minimum number of hours for ethics in the reporting period, to revise the requirements for continuing professional education self-study, to revise the course requirements to bring it into conformity with IC 25-1-4, to add additional qualitative requirements for continuing professional education courses, to revise the retention of certificates of completion and other records to support continuing professional education claimed, to revise the requirements for reactivation of an inactive license, to remove the language to allow licensee to renew license without having yet completed CPE, and to revise the requirements for board review of continuing education compliance to bring the rule into conformity with IC 25-1-4.
The Indiana Board of Accountancy has the authority to promulgate rules in accordance with IC 4-22-2 to enforce and administer IC 25-2.1, including the continuing professional education required for renewal of certificates under IC 25-2.1-4. The Board is defining different types of delivery methods for CPE and indicating whether the delivery method falls within the meaning of self-study and giving licensees additional avenues in which to obtain CPE, updating the Board's rules to bring them into conformity with IC 25-1-4, adding course sponsor requirements to provide licensees with guidance to determine whether a course meets the Board's CPE requirements, and allowing licensees to receive credit for a fraction of an hour. This proposed rule will have no cost on the regulated entities or small businesses.
Copies of these rules are now on file at the Indiana Government Center South, 402 West Washington Street, Room W072 and Legislative Services Agency, One North Capitol, Suite 325, Indianapolis, Indiana and are open for public inspection.
