STATE OF INDIANA EXECUTIVE DEPARTMENT INDIANAPOLIS EXECUTIVE ORDER: 08-12 FOR: INDIANA COMMISSION ON UNIFORM STATE LAWS TO ALL TO WHOM THESE PRESENTS MAY COME, GREETINGS. WHEREAS, the National Conference of Commissioners on Uniform State Laws ("NCCUSL") provides valuable research and assistance to each of the states in encouraging uniformity between the laws of Indiana and her sister states; and WHEREAS, past participation in the Conference has been beneficial to the State of Indiana. NOW, THEREFORE, I, Mitchell E. Daniels, Jr., by virtue of the authority vested in me as Governor of the State of Indiana, do hereby order that: 1. The existence of the Indiana Commission on Uniform Laws shall be continued. 2. The Commission shall be composed of at least seven (7) and no more than ten (10) members appointed by the Governor, and the Governor shall appoint a chairman of the Commission. 3. Members of the Indiana Commission on Uniform State Laws shall have the right to participate in the workings on the NCCUSL and shall have the responsibility of recommending to the General Assembly and the Governor such legislation or other actions as will further promote uniformity of Indiana's laws with like laws of other states. 4. Members of the Commission shall serve until the adjournment of the annual meeting held in the year four (4) years from the year in which the Commissioner was appointed; however, each member shall serve at the pleasure of the Governor. 5. Appropriations made to the Commission shall be used to compensate the NCCUSL for membership dues required for the State of Indiana's participation in the Conference. Money remaining from such appropriations after required dues have been paid may be used to reimburse members, on a pro-rated basis, for traveling expenses associated with Commission duties.
