Notice of Public Hearing
Under
IC 4-22-2-24, notice is hereby given that on July 10, 2008, at 9:30 a.m., at the Indiana State Board of Animal Health, 805 Beachway Drive, Suite 50, Indianapolis, Indiana, the Indiana State Board of Animal Health will hold a public hearing on a proposed rule that amends and adds rules governing cervid animal health programs.
The proposed rule changes requirements for brucellosis and tuberculosis testing of cervids prior to moving into the state and for brucellosis and tuberculosis in cervids monitoring programs. These changes are necessary to meet United States Department of Agriculture uniform standards for state animal health programs for cervids. The proposed rule deletes requirements for moving cervid semen and embryos into the state because of a lack of evidence of chronic wasting disease transmission through these fluids. The proposed rule modifies the required chronic wasting disease monitoring program and creates a voluntary chronic wasting disease certification program. The changes are being made to move the responsibility for collecting samples from the Indiana State Board of Animal Health to the owner of the animal and to meet current United States Department of Agriculture uniform standards for state animal health programs in cervids and federal interstate movement regulations.
Copies of these rules are now on file at the Indiana State Board of Animal Health, 805 Beachway Drive, Suite 50 and Legislative Services Agency, One North Capitol, Suite 325, Indianapolis, Indiana and are open for public inspection.
