Under IC 4-22-2-24, notice is hereby given that on February 4, 2008, at 1:30 p.m., at the Indiana State Department of Health, 2 North Meridian Street, Conference Room 8A, Eighth Floor, Indianapolis, Indiana, the Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH) will hold a public hearing on a proposed rule to add a definition of pandemic influenza activity at 410 IAC 1-2.3-37.5 and to amend 410 IAC 1-2.3-47 to add reporting requirements for the control of communicable diseases.

The ISDH has the authority to adopt this rule under IC 16-19-3-4 and IC 16-41-2-1. The proposed rule will require physicians and hospitals to report human death to ISDH when the person was or may have been infected with the influenza virus. Physicians and hospitals are already required to report other communicable diseases to ISDH. This rule will not impose any additional requirements or costs under IC 4-22-2-24(d)(3).
