TO ALL TO WHOM THESE PRESENTS MAY COME, GREETINGS;
WHEREAS, WILLIAM BENDER, who has petitioned for a pardon, was convicted in 1980 in Elkhart County of Robbery, for which he served a sentence of six (6) years, plus a period of probation; and
WHEREAS, the petitioner, who successfully completed his incarceration and probation, is a married 47-year-old Ohio resident; and
WHEREAS, the petitioner has numerous letters of support from family, friends, co-workers, past and present employees, and community leaders, all of whom recommend that his petition for pardon be granted; and
WHEREAS, the petitioner is a family man who believes in rehabilitation and acts as the Reverend in the Southeast Ohio Regional Jail to support youth in legal trouble; and
WHEREAS, the Parole Board, after careful investigation and examination of all the facts in this case, has unanimously recommended that this pardon be granted.
NOW THEREFORE, I, Mitchell E. Daniels, Jr., Governor of the State of Indiana, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and the laws of said State, do hereby issue a pardon to WILLIAM BENDER.
IN TESTIMONY WHEREOF, I, Mitchell E. Daniels, Jr., have hereunto set my hand and caused to be affixed the Great Seal of the State of Indiana on this 12th day of October, 2007.
