DIGEST

Temporarily amends 312 IAC 8 and 312 IAC 9 to govern hunts at John Merle Coulter Nature Preserve in Porter County and Barker Woods Nature Preserve in LaPorte County. Effective November 8, 2007.

SECTION 1. (a) Notwithstanding 312 IAC 8-2 and any other provision governing taking of a wild animal from a nature preserve dedicated under IC 14-31-1 or otherwise in Indiana, an individual qualified under this document may, with bow and arrows authorized under 312 IAC 9-3-4, take a white-tailed deer from any of the following nature preserves managed in Indiana by the Shirley Heinze Land Trust:

(1) John Merle Coulter Nature Preserve in Porter County.

(2) Barker Woods Nature Preserve in LaPorte County.

(b) In order to qualify under subsection (a), an individual must hunt deer in compliance with 312 IAC 9-3-2 and 312 IAC 9-3-4 within the period from November 8, 2007, through January 6, 2008.

(c) In addition to the requirements of subsection (b), an individual must obtain a prior written permit from the Shirley Heinze Land Trust to engage in the hunt for a specified nature preserve. A permit under this subsection is not valid unless a complete list of all authorized hunters, dates, and locations is provided by the Shirley Heinze Land Trust to the division of law enforcement of the department of natural resources before the commencement of the hunt.
