EXECUTIVE ORDER: 07-08

FOR: PARDON


TO ALL TO WHOM THESE PRESENTS MAY COME, GREETINGS;

WHEREAS, STEVEN QUICK, who has petitioned for a pardon, was convicted in 1981 in Marion Superior Court of Robbery, for which he was sentenced to two years in the Indiana Department of Corrections with one year suspended and one year executed; and

WHEREAS, the petitioner, a resident, homeowner, and longtime employee of the City of Indianapolis, is a 48-year-old married man with three children who has been an active member of his community by serving in many capacities in both his own neighborhood and the greater Indianapolis area, and has since the instant offense lived a law-abiding and productive life giving back to the community; and

WHEREAS, the petitioner has served in several leadership roles in the community which includes his involvement as the AFSCME Local 725 president, service on the Indianapolis Mayor's Front Porch Alliance, his time working with the United States Department of Justice's Violence Reduction Program, in addition to many other community service projects and activities; and

WHEREAS, the petitioner has letters of support testifying to his character and urging approval of this pardon from friends, family, employers, co-workers, legislators and current and former community leaders; and

WHEREAS, the Parole Board, after careful investigation and examination of all the facts in this case, has unanimously recommended to the Governor that this pardon be granted.

NOW THEREFORE, I, Mitchell E. Daniels, Jr., Governor of the State of Indiana, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and the laws of said State, do hereby issue a pardon to STEVEN QUICK.

IN TESTIMONY WHEREOF, I, Mitchell E. Daniels, Jr., have hereunto set my hand and caused to be affixed the Great Seal of the State of Indiana on this 22nd day of May, 2007.
