Title: Determination of the structures in which 1.4G fireworks may be stored.


Date: May 1, 2007

Purpose: To assist code enforcement officials, design professionals, building owners and tenants, and the general public in determining the conditions under which 1.4G fireworks may be legally stored.

Interpretation: Pursuant to IC 22-13-5-4, the Building Law Compliance Officer has determined that:
1. 1.4G fireworks that are intended for sale or for the offer for sale shall not be stored in trailers, shipping containers, portable storage units, or similar kinds of objects that do not comply with the requirements for a Class 1 structure (as defined in IC 22-12-1-4); and
2. Storage of 1.4G fireworks shall comply with all of the applicable provisions of the rules of the Fire Prevention and Building Safety Commission, including, without limitation, occupancy classification requirements contained in the 2003 Indiana Building Code (675 IAC 13-2.4).
