Notice of Intent to Adopt a Rule

Under IC 4-22-2-23, the Natural Resources Commission intends to adopt a rule concerning the following:

OVERVIEW: Amends 312 IAC 5-6-3 that governs special watercraft standards and the placement of temporary structures on Bass Lake in Starke County to update cross-references and to afford better regulatory consistency. To provide consistency with statutory amendments to the general near-shore speed limit for lakes under IC 14-15-3-17, the speed limit for the special watercraft zone along the Bass Lake shoreline is reduced from 10 miles per hour to idle speed. Application of the special authorization for longer piers on Bass Lake is made applicable to temporary piers and boat lifts under a general license, consistently with the treatment of temporary structures under 312 IAC 11. The defined term "shoreline or water line" is substituted for "water line or shoreline", consistently with 312 IAC 11, and is made specific to the legal elevation of Bass Lake. The no-boat zone for the bathing beach at the former Bass Lake State Beach is continued for the current Bass Lake Beach and Campground. Effective 30 days after filing with the Publisher.
