Under IC 4-22-2-24, notice is hereby given that on September 19, 2006 at 11:05 a.m., at the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency, Indiana Government Center-South, 402 West Washington Street, Room W064, Indianapolis, Indiana the Indiana Athletic Trainers Board will hold a public hearing on proposed amendments concerning revising the definitions applicable to athletic trainers and adding the definitions of "BOC" and CAATE", revising the educational and licensure requirements for athletic trainers, clarifying the requirements for supervision by athletic trainers, revising the continuing education requirements to bring the requirements into conformity definition applicable to athletic trainers, and repealing the definition of "CAAHEP", 898 IAC 1-1-7 concerning the definition of "NATABOC", and 898 IAC 1-2-7 concerning exemption from examination.

The Indiana Athletics Trainers Board has the authority to promulgate rules in accordance with IC 25-5.1-2-6 to provide for the licensure of athletic trainers, establish standards for the practice of athletic training, and establish standards for continuing education. This proposed rule will enable the Board to review applications using the most current educational standards as well as clarify terminology commonly used within the profession. In addition, the rules will offer needed guidance to supervisors of collegiate and high school students assisting in the practice of athletic trainers. This proposed rule will have no cost on the regulated entities. The Board has not relied upon any data, studies, or analyses in determining the imposition of requirement or cost.
