Indiana State Representative Dick Dodge was elected to be a representative for House District 51 on May 27, 2004. He is currently serving on the Statutory Committee on Interstate and International Cooperation as the Ranking Minority Member and also serves on the Veterans Affairs and Public Safety Committee and the Public Health Committee.
This past summer, Rep. Dodge attended conferences providing information on improving healthcare and Medicaid programs. As a member of the Public Health Committee, Rep. Dodge will contribute what he learned from these conferences and share information that could apply to Indiana’s current healthcare policies as well as creating new legislation. Healthcare is very costly to the state and it is important that legislators encourage the healthcare industry to create insurance plans that provide the best coverage for all Hoosiers, even those who are uninsured. This includes evaluating our current healthcare providers to determine how efficient their services are to their clients.
Before becoming a state representative, Dodge served in the U.S. Air Force from 1950-1954. As well as serving his country, Dodge served Steuben County in a variety of rolls from County Commissioner to a Township Trustee. As a representative, Dodge is working hard to serve DeKalb and Steuben Counties and help the state of Indiana.
Native to Pleasant Lake, Dodge graduated from Pleasant Lake High School and went on to attend Purdue University and Ferris State College. Rep. Dodge and his wife, Joann, have five children and eight grandchildren. Currently, Dodge performs consulting work for heating and air conditioning companies and previously owned and operated a heating and air conditioning business for 36 years.
