Representative Wes Culver has resided in District 49 for his entire life making him the perfect man to represent the community of Elkhart County.  He was raised on a duck farm in Middlebury, IN where he was instilled with values of hard work, personal responsibility, family, frugality and service to others.  These values directly translated into his work as a business owner as well as a state legislator.  Along with the businesses which he has started and owns, Rep. Culver started a few non-profit organizations including:

• Legacy Child which helps families with adoption expenses

• Shalom House which gets builders and supplies to build a home, sell and give the money to MennoniteWorld Relief

• New Harvest Ministries, which was a Christian teaching ministry to young adults and school age students in Northern Indiana for 10 years

Rep. Culver faithfully pursues a successful business career, but while doing that he has constantly sought other ways to serve others through numerous church, para-church and social service agencies. He has twice taken 3 year periods away from his business to be a pastor.  He also enjoys motorcycling, snowboarding and running marathons.  In 1980 he married his wife, Val.  Together they have three children:  Craig, Chelsea and Cydney.
