    First elected State Representative in November 2002, Tim Neese has worked hard for the citizens of northern Indiana. It is his hope to improve the overall quality of life for the citizens of Elkhart and St. Joseph Counties.

    Representative Neese is a member of the Commerce, Energy, and Utilities, Environmental Affairs, and Government and Regulatory Reform committees.

    During his first term in office, Tim co-authored several key pieces of legislation such as HB1379, (a ban on smoking on school busses) to improve the quality of life for children within his district, and HB1895 (investment of public funds) which allows local units of government to form a joint investment fund for the investment of public funds. His most recent bills include: House Bill 1180 (pharmacy security) which permits a pharmacist to refuse to honor a prescription in a certain circumstance, HB 1073 (tax on recreational vehicles) would have eliminated the requirement that a retail merchant collect sales tax on non-residents purchasing a cargo trailer or RV, HB 1009 (re-districting) which would have allowed for the legislative districts to be re-drawn, and HB 1181 (child abuse/neglect) suggesting any child whose parent or guardian is intoxicated while driving is subject to child abuse. Representative Neese has authored a bill that would provide extra protection to pharmacy employees from threats and robbery. Employees of pharmacies face extra threats because a rise in prescription forgery and armed robbery of pharmacies to get ingredients for illegal drugs.

    In the 2006 legislative session, Representative Neese co-authored the ‘In God We Trust’ license plate law, which allows Hoosiers to get a license plate with the phrase on it for no additional cost. He also authored a law to provide a cost of living adjustment to some retired teachers and all retired public workers.

    His dedication to his constituents continues into his personal life. Tim feels deeply connected to his community through his involvement in St. Thomas the Apostle Church; Who 's Who in American Executives; the National Caucus of Environmental Legislators, instructor; Rick Mount Basketball Shooting School, and as a member of the Indiana Recycling Coalition.

    Representative Neese and his wife Paula reside in Elkhart. Paula is a nursing manager in the Emergency Department at Elkhart General Hospital. They have three children, Emily, Drew, and Adam.

    Prior to being elected to the Indiana House, he was a four-term member of the Elkhart City Council. He also served as a senior assistant to former Indiana Secretary of State Ed Simcox. In addition to his legislative duties, he is the director of the Solid Waste Management of Elkhart County.
