Representative Ralph Foley has had the opportunity to serve the public in many capacities. He has served as an Indiana State Representative since 1992. Previous to becoming a state representative, he was a Chair of the Morgan County Election Board, Vice Precinct Committeeman, Morgan County Deputy Prosecutor, and a delegate to the state convention.

Representative Foley is a graduate of Indiana University with both his undergraduate and law degrees. He has been practicing law since 1965 as a partner in Foley, Foley and Peden. In addition to his law practice, he has been the President of the Morgan County Bar Association, Treasurer and a member of the Board of Governors for the Indiana State Bar Association (ISBA), and Counsel to the President of the ISBA. He also has been a Fellow and Master Fellow for the Indiana Bar Foundation as well as a Member of the IBF's Board of Directors. He has served on the Probate, Trust and Real Estate Council, and has served as a faculty member for the Indiana Continuing Legal Education Forum for Business.

Representative Foley is a Life Alumnus of Indiana University, a member of the Indiana Farm Bureau, Martinsville Chamber of Commerce, a Trustee of First United Methodist Church in Martinsville and on the Board of Directors for church's retirement facility in Franklin. He was formally a President for the Morgan County Sheriff's Merit Board and the Kiwanis. He was a Co-President of the East Middle School PTO, Co-Chair of Martinsville P.R.I.D.E., and a little league coach. He was also a trustee for the First United Methodist Church.

Representative Foley has received several awards throughout the years including two Presidential Citations from the Indiana State Bar Association, a Mayor's Award from the City of Martinsville, the Indiana Chamber of Commerce "Champion of Small Business" award, and the Indiana Judges Association Gavel award. He has also been recognized as an "Advocate for Rural Health", inducted into the Martinsville High School "Hall of Fame", and named the Martinsville Kiwanis Citizen of the Year.

Representative Foley is a lifelong resident of Martinsville, Indiana. He is happily married to his wife, Ann, and they have three married sons and six grandchildren with one more on the way.

District Description: House District 47 consists of most of Morgan County and parts of Johnson County, Hendricks County, and Owen County. In Morgan County, the district includes Martinsville, Morgantown, Brooklyn, and parts of Mooresville. In Johnson County, the district includes Hensley, and Union Townships. In Hendricks County, the district includes Franklin Township and portions of Liberty Township. In Owen County, the district consists of Harrison Township.
