Welcome to my website. I appreciate you taking the time to visit my page, and I hope you find the information and links useful.

It is a honor to represent House District 46 and serve my community once more in the 118th General Assembly. A great deal of work has been accomplished since last year, but there is always room for improvement and more work to be done.

Indiana has emerged as a leading state with a growing economy and strong education system. Building on that foundation, we must continue to refine our state’s education system by promoting early childhood learning and by expanding education opportunities for Hoosier families.

It is imperative that we address the skills gap, so current job openings can continue to be filled. It is important to provide opportunities for Indiana’s workforce to have the certifications, degrees and training necessary to be employed. As the government provides valuable services for Hoosiers, it must be done within the confines of fiscal prudence and good governance. Passing an honestly balanced budget is vital to Indiana’s ability to attract more businesses, providing more jobs for Hoosiers

With the vast amount of issues that will be addressed this session, I want to hear from you.

Your state representative,

Bob Heaton

2012 Legislative Focus: Accountability for Registered Investment Advisors

I authored legislation that provides accountability measures for those seeking to register as a registered investment advisor. House Enrolled Act (HEA) 1294 imposes penalties on registered securities broker dealers or investment advisors if they have failed to pay their child support. The legislation keeps those who want to register to sell mutual funds accountable. Your duties to your children should be a priority and this legislation keeps children as a priority for those wanting to register as investment advisors.

The legislation also promotes accountability by providing rewards for those whistleblowers who see insider trading and report that insider trading to the Securities Division of the Secretary of State. It is important to establish accountability to those in leadership roles, and I believe it is equally important to provide incentives for those who report wrongdoing. This law ties up some loose ends when it comes to security matters.
