State Representative Tim Brown serves House District 41, which includes Montgomery, Parke, and Tippecanoe Counties. He was elected as a State Representative in 1994. In 2005, Rep. Brown was appointed as Chair of the Public Heath Committee. Rep. Brown is also the Chair for the Statutory Committee on Ethics, as well as a member of the following committees: Employment and Labor, Natural Resources, and Rules and Legislative Procedures. In addition, he serves as the Deputy Speaker Pro Tempore.
This session, Rep. Brown has worked on numerous legislative initiatives, many of which included topics on healthcare. After two sessions, Rep. Brown was also successful in his efforts to pass legislation that created stricter penalties for those who engage in aggressive driving.
Rep. Brown received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Illinois Wesleyan University and his medical degree from the University of Illinois. Prior to serving in the Indiana House of Representatives, Rep. Brown was the treasurer for the State Medical Association for four years. He has also been a board member of the Franklin Methodist Retirement Community since September 2005. Rep. Brown is an Emergency Room Doctor for St. Clair Hospital in Montgomery County. Rep. Brown is also a member of Indiana State Medical Association.
Rep. Brown has received several awards for his contribution to public health. He has received the following awards:
Indiana Chamber of Small Business Award in 1997 and 2002
Outstanding Legislator for Indiana Medical Association award in 2005
Outstanding Achievement Award for AIDS in 2000
Awarded Legislator of the Year by the Indiana Opthamology Association in 2005
Awarded Legislator of the Year by the Indiana Public Health Association in 2006.
Rep. Brown resides in Crawfordsville with his wife, Jayne, and his four daughters. In his spare time, Rep. Brown enjoys spending time outdoors, sailing, waterskiing, and traveling to visit family. Rep. Brown is also a member of the Linden-Kirkpatrick United Methodist Church.
