District 40 is located entirely in eastern Hendricks County and includes the towns of Brownsburg, Avon, Cartersburg, and portions of Plainfield. The general borders of the district are the Hendricks/Boone county line to the north, the Hendricks/Marion county line to the east, U.S. 40 to the south, and County Roads 200, 400, and 500 along various portions of the district to the west. It also contains a small dip to the south border of the county just southeast of Cartersburg.
