On May 28th, Representative Soliday together with other members of CAST (Commercial Aviation Safety Team) received the Collier Trophy which is the greatest award one can achieve in the field of aeronautics and astronautics. The award was presented by the Aero Club, National Aeronautics Association of Washington. Representative Soliday was the founding co-chairman of CAST which was created by Congress in response to the White House Commission on Aviation Safety and Security; more commonly referred to as the Gore Commission. CAST successfully achieved an unprecedented safety level in US commercial airline operations by reducing the risk of fatal airline accidents by 83% resulting in two consecutive years of NO commercial airline fatalities.
