State Representative Bill Davis was first elected to office in 2004, representing House District 33, which includes all of Jay County and portions of Delaware and Randolph Counties.
A long-time Portland businessman, Rep. Davis worked for 32 years with Meshberger Bros. Stone Corp. Because of his years of experience with local, county and state road projects, Rep. Davis was appointed to the Roads and Transportation Committee at the Statehouse.
Rep. Davis also serves his community and the state through an appointment to the Ways and Means Committee, which molds Indiana’s biennial state budget, helping to craft an honestly balanced state budget that includes no tax increases.
At the Statehouse, Rep. Davis has promoted strong education initiatives, such as Dollars to the Classroom and he authored legislation this past session that reinstated Indiana’s “teacher mentoring” program, which helps reduce turnover at our local schools.
Rep. Davis has also been an advocate for more efficient government. He encouraged then Speaker of the House Brian Bosma to eliminate taxpayer funded lifetime healthcare for legislators, a program instituted prior to Rep. Davis’ arrival.
A lifelong east central Indiana resident, Rep. Davis has been active in many organizations and served on the boards of the Jay County Community Center, the Jay County Economic Development Corp., the Portland Area Chamber of Commerce, the Jay County Hospital and the Zion Lutheran Church.
Proud parents and grandparents, Rep. Davis and his wife, Mary, have been married for over 39 years.
