(Statehouse) Feb. 16, 2006- The Indiana Department of Environmental Management and Representative Rich McClain were proud to announce earlier this week that an air permit for an ethanol facility was approved in Logansport, Indiana.
“I am pleased to see House initiatives to increase ethanol production and economic development in the state helping to create high paying jobs has found a home near Logansport,” said Rep. Rich McClain. “Agribusiness is well represented in District 24 and with this announcement we will continue to bring more jobs to the agriculture industry.”
Completion of the ethanol facility is scheduled for the early part of 2007. The facility will hold a capacity of 110 million gallons and will be the largest of its kind east of the Mississippi.
The Andersons Ethanol LLC., founded in Maumee, Ohio in 1947, will own and operate the facility near Logansport.
“As author of Senate bill 353 and 378, which help improve air quality and agribusiness in the state, State Representative McClain’s aid sponsoring this legislation was instrumental in helping these initiatives become law,” said Senator Tom Weatherwax. “Due to Rep. McClain’s assistance sponsoring this legislation we have seen tremendous growth in ethanol production from 1 to 18 ethanol and soy bio-diesel plants in the state within one year.”
The Andersons, Inc. company interests include grain, ethanol and plant nutrient sectors of U.S. agriculture, railcar marketing, industrial products formulation, production of turf products, and merchandise retailing. The company now has operations in seven U.S. states plus rail equipment leasing interests in Canada and Mexico.
