State Representative Rich McClain, has helped to encourage innovative initiatives and spur economic development in House District 24, which includes portions of Cass, Carroll, Miami, and White counties.
As a veteran legislator, Rep. McClain was instrumental in funding the state’s more than $1.8 billion transportation deficit to finally make the “Hoosier Heartland Corridor” a reality. In addition, Rep. McClain was instrumental in assisting with the development of numerous ethanol and biodiesel production plants in Indiana. This initiative will use Indiana commodities, which will benefit the agriculture in the state. Using Hoosier ingenuity to produce an alternative to fossil fuels at the pump will help reduce Indiana’s reliance on foreign oil.
Rep. McClain serves his community in a number of ways including:
- Logansport/Cass County Chamber of Commerce
- Georgetown Volunteer Fire Department
- Assistant Boy Scout Scoutmaster
- Rotary
- Jaycees
- Red Cross
- United Way
- Farm Bureau
- Junior Achievement Program for Students
- American Legion
- Elder and teacher at the Lucerne Christian Church
- Mental Health Association
Prior to Rep. McClain’s service at the Statehouse, his work in the public sector included Township Trustee and Logansport City Engineer. Before working with the city as a public official, Rep. McClain served in the United States Navy.
Representative McClain is a graduate of Purdue University where he received his degree in industrial supervision. Rep. McClain and his wife, Barrie, a teacher at Pioneer Jr.-Sr. High School, have twin sons and three grandchildren.
