Indianapolis legislators appointed to 2008 study committees

INDIANAPOLIS —— Indiana House Speaker B. Patrick Bauer (D-South Bend) named Marion County state representatives to a variety of study committees that will meet in the coming months.

"The Indianapolis delegation will play a critical role in several interim study committees," said Bauer. "These legislators possess a depth of knowledge and experience that will significantly benefit the commissions and committees which explore various issues, several of which will be reviewed in the upcoming session."

STATE REP. JEB BARDON (D-Indianapolis), Indiana House District 25, was reappointed to the Probate Code Study Commission.

STATE REP. JOHN BARTLETT (D-Indianapolis), Indiana House District 95, will be a member of the Code Revision Commission in addition to serving on the Committee on Educational Attitudes, Motivation & Involvement.

STATE REP. BILL CRAWFORD (D-Indianapolis), Indiana House District 98, will chair the Select Joint Commission on Medicaid Oversight. He also will be a member of the Commission on Disproportionality in Youth Services, Commission on State Tax & Financing Policy, Medicaid Advisory Committee, and the Medicaid Work Incentives Council.

STATE REP. JOHN DAY (D-Indianapolis), Indiana House District 100, has been reappointed to the Alzheimer's Disease and Related Senile Dementia Task Force and the Health Finance Commission. Additionally, Day will be on the Child Custody & Support Advisory Committee, Community & Home Options to Institutional Care for Elderly & Disabled Board, and Infants & Toddlers with Disabilities Interagency Coordinating Council.

STATE REP. CAROLENE MAYS (D-Indianapolis), Indiana House District 94, was named to the Health Finance Commission and the Prenatal Substance Abuse Commission.

STATE REP. GREGORY W. PORTER (D-Indianapolis), Indiana House District 96, was reappointed chair of the Interim Study Committee on Educational Matters. He also will be a member of the Board of Directors of the Corporation for Educational Technology, the Education Commission of the States, the Education Roundtable, the Indiana School for the Deaf Board, and the Indiana White River State Park Development Commission.

STATE REP. VANESSA SUMMERS (D-Indianapolis), Indiana House District 99, was named as chair of both the Child Custody & Support Advisory Committee and the Indiana Commission on Autism. She also will serve on the Committee on Child Care and the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday Commission.
