Rep. Vern TincherA message from Committee Chairman Vern Tincher

“Recognizing the importance of ensuring the safety of the general public in cities and towns across Indiana, it is vital to recruit and maintain top-notch personnel for law enforcement and firefighting agencies statewide.

“This is the type of legislative proposal that might be assigned to the Indiana House Veterans Affairs & Public Safety Committee.

“Equally important to the citizens of our state is the need to treat fairly those who have retired from the military or from a career in public safety. Legislation governing the retirement of these personnel under Indiana's jurisdiction is also often assigned to this committee.

“The Indiana House Veterans Affairs & Public Safety Committee handles legislation intended to make a positive impact upon those in our state who can truly be called, ‘heroes.’”
