“In a time when health care miracles considered impossible just a generation ago are now performed almost routinely every single day, it is little wonder that the issues surrounding health care and health care access have grown more and more complex in the past few decades.
“As an individual who has been directly and indirectly engaged in Indiana's discussions about public health policy for the better part of 40 years, I have seen incredible successes—and I have seen unmitigated failures.
“One constant in all of these developments, however, has been my unswaying belief that we can do better for our people.
“It is this search for the way to do better for our people that guides my every action as chairman of the Indiana House Public Health Committee.”
