“The family is the fundamental unit of our society and it is one of the guiding principles of my work as a legislator and as chair of this committee that we make this a long-range achievement. At the same time, state government can also take great strides in protecting Indiana's children and others who need assistance.
“The members of this committee typically set aside other disagreements to come to a concensus when the needs of Indiana's families and children are at stake.
