A message from Committee Chairman Gregory W. Porter
“Public education is one of the very few responsibilities expressly outlined for government in our state constitution. Yet, every day we hear of the increasingly difficult obstacles that threaten to undermine the pillars of free public schools in Indiana.
“As chairman of the Indiana House Standing Committee on Education, I will continue to address some of the most pressing issues facing our teachers in the classroom.
“We need to continue taking steps to address the achievement gap that threatens to leave a large percentage of Indiana's young people without the skills they will need to make positive contributions to our state in the future.”
