Klinker offers resolution honoring show choir

INDIANAPOLIS -- The Indiana House of Representatives today passed a resolution introduced by State Rep. Sheila Klinker (D-Lafayette) honoring the Lafayette Jefferson High School show choir.

Members of the First Edition from Jefferson High School are celebrating their 18th season as one of the finest show choirs in the Midwest. The outstanding choir has been featured on "This Morning on CBS" and "ESPN" and has appeared in Miami, Orlando, Philadelphia, Nashville, Washington, D.C., Chicago, Boston, Los Angeles, and New York City, as well as on the Majesty of the Seas Cruise Ship.

The First Edition has also been recognized for its outstanding musical ability in the form of numerous awards and has been named grand champion at many contests, including Center Grove's Best of the Midwest, Chicagoland Showcase, Mooresville Invitational, Pekin, East Coast Invitational, Fort Wayne, Carroll, Huntington, Opryland, Lawrence Central, Showstoppers National Invitational, and five times at the Bishop Luers Invitational.

"Music can be described as organized sound that transcends time and space," said Klinker. "The music of the First Edition will truly last forever in the memories of all who have heard them.

"The members of the Indiana House of Representatives acknowledge the tremendous talent and dedication of the members of this outstanding musical group and encourage them to keep providing the students and residents of Greater Lafayette with their beautiful music," added Klinker.
