Synopsis: Parking placards. Requires that a parking placard issued by
the bureau of motor vehicles to a person with a physical disability must
contain the final four digits of the person's driver's license or unique
identification number. Makes it a Class C misdemeanor for a person,
other than the person to whom a parking placard is issued, to use the
parking placard to park in a parking space for persons with physical
disabilities.
Effective: July 1, 2010.

A BILL FOR AN ACT to amend the Indiana Code concerning
motor vehicles.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Indiana:

SECTION 1. IC 9-14-5-3 IS AMENDED TO READ AS FOLLOWS
[EFFECTIVE JULY 1, 2010]: Sec. 3. The placard required under
section 1 of this chapter must contain the following:
(1) The words "Parking Permit for Persons with Physical
Disabilities".
(2) An expiration date.
(3) The final four (4) digits of the driver's license or unique
identification number assigned by the bureau to the individual
to whom the placard is issued.

SECTION 2. IC 9-14-5-9 IS AMENDED TO READ AS FOLLOWS
[EFFECTIVE JULY 1, 2010]: Sec. 9.
(a) A person who knowingly and
falsely represents the person as having the qualifications to obtain a
placard issued under this chapter commits a Class C misdemeanor.
(b) A person:
(1) who uses a placard issued under this chapter to park in a
parking space reserved for persons with physical disabilities;
and
(2) whose driver's license or unique identification number
does not match the digits printed on the placard under section
3(3) of this chapter;
commits a Class C misdemeanor.
