    A HOUSE RESOLUTION celebrating Larry “Bud” Wright as Indiana's winningness active football coach.

    Whereas, Larry “Bud” Wright was born to coach and inspire others;

    Whereas, Bud Wright began his football career as a player himself for Sheridan High School;

    Whereas, Bud Wright pursued his academic goals while attending Ball State University for his undergraduate degree and Butler University for his master's degree;

    Whereas, Bud Wright accepted his first teaching job at North Miami High School in 1963, and then moved on to a position at Mount Ayr High School in 1965;

    Whereas, Seizing the opportunity to return to the school he loved, Bud Wright joined the staff of Sheridan High School in 1966, and has served as coach for the football team since that

time;

    Whereas, Family has always been of central importance to Coach Wright. He and his wife Jayne have two sons and two daughters and also enjoy the great blessing of grandchildren;

    Whereas, Coach Wright has built a top-rate football program at Sheridan High School and has received numerous accolades through the years;

    Whereas, Under Coach Wright's leadership, Sheridan High School in 2007, won its 3rd consecutive and 9th overall Class 1A state football championship;

    Whereas, A coach can be judged as effective in several ways. One way a coach can be judged effective is by excelling in his or her ability to recruit the best talent to a team, by instilling knowledge of the game into his or her players, and by leading practices and drills to ensure success and to create competitive advantage. And yet another way a coach can be judged effective is by being someone who inspires the young people on his or her team to be quality individuals, to have a good work ethic, and to serve as good role models for others. Coach Bud Wright is one of those unique coaches who is effective in both of these ways;

    Whereas, Coach Bud Wright has become a legend in Indiana high school football history and is now the State of Indiana's winningness active coach with a record of 337 wins and 144 losses in 43 years overall, with 42 of those years being at Sheridan High School: Therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the

General Assembly of the State of Indiana:

                            
    SECTION 1. That the Indiana General Assembly congratulates Coach Larry “Bud” Wright on the incredible achievement of becoming Indiana's winningness active football coach and thanks him for his many years of dedication to the young people of our state.
    SECTION 2. That the Principal Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit a copy of this resolution to Coach Larry “Bud” Wright and to Sheridan High School.
