MR. SPEAKER:
I move that House Joint Resolution 1 be amended to read as follows:
Delete the title and insert the following:
A JOINT RESOLUTION agreeing to a proposed amendment to
Article 1 of the Constitution of the State of Indiana by adding a new
Section concerning the definition of marriage and proposing an
amendment to Article 10 of the Indiana Constitution concerning
taxation.

Constitution of the State of Indiana, printed in SECTION 2 of this joint
resolution, which was agreed to by the One Hundred Fourteenth
General Assembly and referred to this General Assembly for
reconsideration and agreement, is agreed to by this the One Hundred
Fifteenth General Assembly of the State of Indiana.
(b)"
Page 1, line 1, delete "following".
Page 1, line 2, after "Indiana" insert ", printed in SECTION 3 of this
joint resolution,".
Page 1, between lines 4 and 5, begin a new paragraph and insert:
"SECTION 2. ARTICLE

NEW
SECTION TO READ AS FOLLOWS:
Section 38. (a) Marriage in
Indiana consists only of the union of one man and one woman.
(b) This Constitution or any other Indiana law may not be
construed to require that marital status or the legal incidents of
marriage be conferred upon unmarried couples or groups.".
Renumber all SECTIONS consecutively.
