I move
that Senate Bill 1 be amended to read as follows:
Page 12, between lines 21 and 22, begin a new paragraph and insert:

"SECTION 9. [EFFECTIVE JULY 1, 2007] (a) As used in this
SECTION, "department" means the Indiana department of
transportation.
(b) As used in this SECTION, "Indiana Commerce
Connector" means a limited access facility beginning at Interstate
Highway 69 in Madison County and ending at Interstate Highway
70 in Hendricks County or Morgan County.
(c) As used in this SECTION, "transportation plan" refers to
the department's long range comprehensive transportation plan
developed under IC 8-23-2-5.
(d) Notwithstanding any other law, the department and the
Indiana finance authority shall hold public hearings on the
feasibility and desirability of locating the Indiana Commerce
Connector along a route identified in the 2003 amendments to the
department's transportation plan for an expansion project that
generally followed a route parallel to State Road 109 southward to
the boundary between Rush County and Shelby County before
bearing west along a route generally parallel to State Road 46.
(e) The department and the Indiana finance authority must
give reasonable consideration to the route described in this
SECTION before making a final determination of the route for the
Indiana Commerce Connector.
(f) This SECTION expires January 1, 2012.".
