A RESOLUTION honoring Matthew Metzger.
Whereas, Eighteen-year-old Matthew Metzger is the
2004-2005 Indiana FFA state president;
Whereas, As state president, Matthew will spend the
coming year traveling the state promoting agricultural
education and the FFA, speaking to more than 6,000 students
and FFA supporters, presenting numerous workshops and
conferences, and participating in good will tours;
Whereas, In addition to these duties, Matthew is
responsible for developing relationships with leaders in
government, education, business, and agriculture;
Whereas, Matthew has attended the Washington
Leadership Conference, the Advanced Leadership Development
Conference, and the Made for Excellence Conference;
Whereas, Matthew has participated in career development
events at all levels of the FFA, including the national level. He
attended the Creed Speaking Career Development Event in
which he earned a Silver Emblem ranking him among the top
16 in his event. At the state level, he attended Leadership
Ambassador, job interview, and freshmen extemporaneous
speaking events and contributed to the Parliamentary
Procedures team advancing to state level twice and acting as
the presiding officer;
Whereas, Matthew has been recognized locally with the
Star Greenhand, Chapter Star in Agriculture Placement,
Dekalb Leadership Awards, and received Gold Emblems for his
accomplishments in the Meats Evaluation and Technology CDE
and the Dairy Cattle Evaluation CDE where he individually
ranked seventh and eighth respectively;
Whereas, After serving the Indiana FFA and its members,
Matthew plans to attend Bethel College majoring in Christian
Ministries; upon graduation Matthew plans to use his
education and FFA experiences to launch a proactive career
and make positive differences in the lives of others: Therefore,
