SENATE RESOLUTION

     MR. PRESIDENT:

        I offer the following resolution and move its adoption:

    A SENATE RESOLUTION to recognize and honor the Richmond Roosters for winning the 2001 Frontier League Championship.

    Whereas, the Richmond Roosters have provided professional baseball to the City of Richmond and the entire Wayne County area since the team became a member of the Frontier League in 1995;

    Whereas, in so doing, the Roosters have afforded the community an excellent source of fun and entertainment for families throughout the region and for people and visitors in the Richmond area in general;

    Whereas, in 2001 the Roosters brought out fans in large numbers, bringing a total of 42,976 fans to beautiful, historic McBride Stadium in 2001;

    Whereas, the Roosters have been recognized for their contribution to the area by the Richmond-Wayne County Chamber of Commerce, earning the "Achievement of Excellence For-Profit Organization of the Year" award; and

    Whereas, in 2001, the faithful fans at McBride Stadium were treated to championship baseball when the Roosters, despite a second place finish in the Eastern Division regular season, came back in dramatic fashion to sweep the Chillicothe Paints in the three game finals, bringing home the 2001 Frontier League crown: Therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate of the

General Assembly of the State of Indiana:

    SECTION 1. That the Indiana State Senate, on behalf of the people of Indiana, does hereby congratulate the Richmond Roosters for winning the 2001 Frontier League Championship.
    SECTION 2. That the Secretary of the Senate is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Allen Brady, President and Managing Partner of the Richmond Roosters.
