I offer the following resolution and move its adoption:
A SENATE RESOLUTION to recognize and honor the
Richmond Roosters for winning the 2001 Frontier League
Championship.
Whereas, the Richmond Roosters have provided
professional baseball to the City of Richmond and the entire
Wayne County area since the team became a member of the
Frontier League in 1995;
Whereas, in so doing, the Roosters have afforded the
community an excellent source of fun and entertainment for
families throughout the region and for people and visitors in
the Richmond area in general;
Whereas, in 2001 the Roosters brought out fans in large
numbers, bringing a total of 42,976 fans to beautiful, historic
McBride Stadium in 2001;
Whereas, the Roosters have been recognized for their
contribution to the area by the Richmond-Wayne County
Chamber of Commerce, earning the "Achievement of
Excellence For-Profit Organization of the Year" award; and
