SENATE CONCURRENT
RESOLUTION



    A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION urging the Indiana department of transportation to name a bridge in honor of Richard "Dick" Farley.

    Whereas, Richard "Dick" Farley was born in Winslow, Indiana, on April 13, 1932;

    Whereas, Mr. Farley attended Winslow High School
where he led the Eskimos' basketball team to a four year record of 83 - 8;

    Whereas, During his junior year at Winslow High
School, he helped the Eskimos achieve an undefeated record;

    Whereas, Dick Farley helped lead the Eskimos to the final game of the Semi-State Tournament in 1950;

    Whereas, Richard Farley was also named to the Indiana All-Stars team;

    Whereas, Dick Farley went on to play basketball at
Indiana University where he was a three year letter winner;

    Whereas, Richard Farley was a member of the Indiana

University Big Ten Championship basketball teams in 1953 and 1954 and he also was a member of the National Championship basketball team in 1953;
    
    Whereas, Mr. Farley played professionally for two years for the Syracuse Nationals who were the world champions in 1955 and also participated in a government-sponsored European tour;

    Whereas, After returning from military service, Mr. Richard Farley played in the NBA for one year for the Detroit Pistons; and

    Whereas, Outstanding achievements in any field deserve special recognition: Therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly

of the State of Indiana, the House of Representatives concurring:


     SECTION 1. That the Indiana General Assembly asks the Indiana department of transportation to name the bridge located south of Winslow, Indiana, on State Road 61 spanning the Patoka River after Richard "Dick" Farley.
    SECTION 2. That copies of the resolution be transmitted by the
Secretary of the Senate to the commissioner of the Indiana department
of transportation.
