tradition and excellence;
Whereas, on Sunday, December 14, 1998, the Indiana
University Men's Soccer Team defeated Stanford University,
3-1, to win their fourth NCAA Soccer National
Championship;
Whereas, for the past two seasons the Soccer Hoosiers
have been virtually unbeatable, amassing an amazing 46-3

Whereas, two outstanding Hoosiers received special
honors: Aleksey Korol was named the tournament's most
valuable offensive player; and Nick Garcia was named the
tournament's most valuable defensive player;
Whereas, the Hoosier's seven goals scored in the last two
rounds of the NCAA tournament were the most scored by any
one team in the semifinals and championship since the
Hoosier's eight goals in 1980;

team effort, and each member of the team, the managers,
Coach Yeagley, and the staff should be praised and honored
for superior performance and team spirit.
